Early Victorian Coral Cameo Ring in 9 Carat Gold; Circa 1830

A rare and evocative jewel from the early Victorian era, this ring features a beautifully hand-carved coral cameo at its heart. The rich orange red coral has been sculpted into the profile of a historical female figure; a style that harks back to the Georgian taste for classical antiquity and portraiture. It is possible that the cameo itself is an earlier Georgian carving, later set into its Victorian mount. Its sharp edges softened with love and time.
