Vintage South African Signet Ring in 9 Carat Gold; Circa 1960

A charming mid century signet ring which looks much much other in design. Dating to around the 1950's–60's it has been crated in warm 9 carat gold and is as cherished today as it was over 70 years ago. 

The ring has a handsome rectangular cushion shaped panel, hand engraved at the centre with the letter “M”. The proportions are timeless, with a lovely sense of age and history despite its mid century date.

What makes this example particularly interesting are the South African hallmarks found to the back of the band. These hallmarks that are not often encountered and which give the ring a lovely provenance.

With its warm gold, softened historic feel and beautifully simple monogram, this is a wonderful everyday signet with a little something extra for the wearer.
